In the 1920s, the ways people live, communicate, travel and consume change. Electricity networks are expanded, leading to many breakthroughs in technological innovation. In 1925, Sweden has the highest telephone density in the world and Swedish Radio (AB Radiotjänst) starts broadcasting radio all over the country. Sweden becomes a country where people can share the same news and experiences.
A new world opens up with cars, motorcycles and airplanes. They signal the speed and excitement of the modern times. Often, they are used to promote products that modern people consider necessary in a rapidly growing consumer society.
With radio, cinema and newspapers readily available to an increasing number of people, news, music and fashion spread faster and faster. International trends sweep through the western world, causing major impact.
